OSSC Junior Stenographer Recruitment 2025: The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) invites online applications for recruitment to various Group-C posts including Junior Stenographer, Junior Grade Typist, and Typist-cum-Scribe Assistant under different departments of the Government of Odisha. This is a regular appointment with pay scales as per the 7th Pay Commission.

Eligibility Criteria

General Eligibility:

  • Citizen of India
  • Good character and sound health
  • If married, must not have more than one spouse living
  • Must be able to read, write and speak Odia fluently

Educational Qualifications & Age Limits:

Junior Stenographer (EIC, Water Resources) HSC Examination with ITI (Stenography), Certificate on Basic Computer Skill 21-32 years
Junior Stenographer (Advocate General) Bachelor's Degree with 80 wpm shorthand speed in English & Odia, Computer knowledge 21-32 years
Junior Stenographer (Directorate of Treasuries) +2 Arts/Science/Commerce with 80 wpm shorthand speed in English & Odia, Computer knowledge 18-32 years
Junior Grade Typist HSC Examination with Certificate on Basic Computer Skill 18-32 years
Typist-cum-Scribe Assistant +2 in any discipline with typing knowledge (40 wpm English, 20 wpm Odia), Basic Computer knowledge 21-32 years

Age Relaxation:

  • 5 years for SEBC, SC, ST & all Women candidates
  • 10 years for PwD category
  • Defence service period for Ex-Servicemen
  • Cumulative relaxation for PwD in ST & SC categories
Selection Process

Four Stage Examination Process:

  1. Stage-I: Preliminary Examination
    • One Paper (150 marks)
    • Syllabus: Arithmetic, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Current Affairs, Computer Awareness, Odisha-related topics
    • Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer
  2. Stage-II: Main Written Examination
    • Language Paper (100 marks) - Odia & English
    • Syllabus: Comprehension, Precis Writing, Usage & Vocabulary, Translation
  3. Stage-III: Skill Tests
    • Computer Skill Test (50 marks) - For all posts
    • Stenography Test (50 marks) - For Junior Stenographer posts
    • Typing Test (50 marks) - For Junior Grade Typist & Typist-cum-Scribe Assistant
  4. Stage-IV: Certificate Verification

Final Merit Calculation:

  • For Junior Stenographer: Main Written (100) + CST (50) + Stenography (50) = 200 marks
  • For Junior Grade Typist/Typist-cum-Scribe: Main Written (100) + CST (50) + Typing (50) = 200 marks
How to Apply

  2. Application Fee: No fee for any category
  3. Steps to Apply:
    • Visit OSSC website: www.ossc.gov.in
    • Click on "APPLY ONLINE" and register as "NEW USER"
    • Fill the online application form with all required details
    • Upload scanned documents (photo, signature, certificates)
    • Submit the form before the deadline
    • Take printout of submitted application for future reference
  4. Required Documents:
    • Recent passport size color photo (20-100 KB, JPG/JPEG)
    • Signature & thumb impression (up to 20 KB, JPG/JPEG)
    • Educational certificates (100-500 KB, PDF)
    • Stenography/Typing certificates (100-500 KB, PDF)
    • Caste certificate (for reserved categories)
    • PwD certificate (if applicable)
  5. Important Notes:
    • Only one application per candidate is allowed
    • No changes allowed after final submission
    • Keep email ID and mobile number active throughout recruitment process
    • Government employees need to submit NOC
