AFMS Medical Officer Recruitment - Age Limit & Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 31 Dec 2025):
- MBBS Degree Holders: Not attained 30 years (born on or after 02 Jan 1996)
- PG Degree Holders: Not attained 35 years (born on or after 02 Jan 1991)
Educational Qualifications:
- MBBS qualification included in National Medical Council Act, 2019
- Permanent registration from any State Medical Council/NMC/MCI
- Post graduate degree holders recognized by State Medical Council/NBE/NMC can also apply
- Must have passed final MBBS (Part-I & II) examination in not more than two attempts
- Must have appeared in NEET PG examination (anytime during 2023 & 2024)
- PG degree holders not required to appear in NEET PG again
Other Requirements:
- Must have completed internship on or before 31 Mar 2025
- Civilian doctors with PG degree can use their previous NEET PG scores

- Shortlisting Based on NEET PG Scores:
- NEET PG percentile converted to "calculated NEET PG marks" (out of 200)
- Candidates called for interview (up to 8 times vacancies) based on merit
- Interview (Viva-Voce):
- Conducted at Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt in Jun 2025
- Maximum 50 marks for interview
- First-time candidates eligible for travel allowance
- Medical Examination:
- Special Medical Board (SMB) examination after interview
- Appeal Medical Board (AMB) and Review Medical Board (RMB) options available
- Pregnancy at any stage makes candidate 'Temporarily Unfit'
- Final Merit List:
- Combined score of "calculated NEET PG marks" (200) + interview marks (50)
- Minimum 50% marks required in interview
- Separate merit lists for male and female candidates

- Login with registered email, password and OTP
- Fill application form and upload required documents
- Pay application fee online

Important Notes
- Admit cards will be available for download at least one week before interview
- Name, Father's Name, Gender, Date of Birth and Email cannot be changed after submission
- Regularly check website and registered email for updates

- Discrepancies in details/documents may lead to rejection
- Service tenure: Initial 5 years, extendable up to 14 years total
- Posting can be anywhere in India or abroad
- PG degree holders may still be posted as General Duty Medical Officers
Emoluments
- Rank: Captain (or equivalent in Navy/Air Force)
- Pay: Level 10B of Defence Pay Matrix (BP Rs. 61300 + MSP Rs. 15500)
- Allowances: HRA, NPA, Transport Allowance (Rs. 3600-7200), Dress Allowance (Rs. 20,000 annually)
- Other Benefits: Subsidized accommodation, ration/allowance, 60 days Annual Leave, 20 days Casual Leave, LTC, free medical services for family, Group Insurance, CSD facility
- PG Allowance: Eligible for PG allowance/specialist pay if designated as Graded Specialist
