SSC Stenographer Notification 2025: The Staff Selection Commission invites applications for recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’) in various Ministries/Departments/Organizations of the Government of India. Only candidates with stenography skills are eligible to apply. There are a total of 261 posts. Eligible candidates can apply for the post from 6th June to 26th June 2025.

SSC Stenographer Notification - Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit (as on 01.08.2025):
    • Stenographer Grade C: 18–30 years
    • Stenographer Grade D: 18–27 years
    • Age relaxation applicable as per rules (SC/ST: 5 yrs, OBC: 3 yrs, etc.)
  • SSC Stenographer Qualification: 12th Pass or equivalent from a recognized board by 01.08.2025.
  • Nationality: Indian citizen or as per eligibility conditions mentioned in the notification.

SSC Stenographer - Selection Process

  1. Computer Based Examination (CBT) with sections:
    • General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks)
    • General Awareness (50 marks)
    • English Language and Comprehension (100 marks)
    • Duration: 2 hours (2 hours 40 mins for eligible PwD candidates)
    • Negative marking: 0.25 marks
  2. Skill Test: Stenography at 100 wpm (Grade C) / 80 wpm (Grade D) with transcription time as per post and language.

SSC Stenographer Syllabus

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, decision making, visual memory, number series, etc.
  • General Awareness: Current events, India and its neighbors, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, Scientific Research, etc.
  • English Language and Comprehension: Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, correct usage, comprehension passages, etc.

SSC Stenographer Notification How to Apply

  1. Mode of Application: Candidates must apply online through the SSC official website https://ssc.gov.in or via the My SSC mobile app (available on Google Play Store).
  2. One-Time Registration (OTR):
    • New users must complete OTR on the new SSC portal. Old SSC.nic.in OTRs are not valid.
    • Provide valid email ID, mobile number, and Aadhaar (recommended) for verification.
    • Capture a live photograph using the camera during the registration process.
  3. Filling the Online Application Form:
    • Login using your registered ID and password.
    • Click on “Apply” for “Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ Examination 2025.”
    • Select the exam post(s) you want to apply for: Grade ‘C’, Grade ‘D’ or both.
    • Enter personal details, educational qualifications, and exam center preferences.
    • Upload scanned signature in JPG/JPEG format (10–20 KB, size: 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm).
    • Choose Aadhaar-based authentication (recommended for easier verification).
  4. Application Fee:
    • ₹100/- for General and OBC candidates.
    • Exempted for SC/ST/PwBD/ESM and all Women candidates.
    • Fee Payment Mode: Online via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit/Credit cards.
    • Last date for fee payment: 27 June 2025 (23:00 hrs).
  5. Photo Capture Guidelines:
    • Capture photo live using webcam/mobile camera during application.
    • Ensure good lighting and plain background.
    • Face must be straight, without cap, mask, or spectacles.
  6. Final Submission:
    • Verify all details in “Preview” mode before final submission.
    • Once submitted, no changes will be allowed (except during correction window).
    • Download and keep a copy of the submitted application form for future reference.
  7. Correction Window:
    • Correction period: 01 July to 02 July 2025 (23:00 hrs).
    • Correction Fee: ₹200 for 1st correction, ₹500 for 2nd correction.
    • Only candidates who completed fee payment before last date can use correction facility.
  8. Important Notes:
    • Only one application is allowed per candidate.
    • Aadhaar authentication is strongly recommended (exempt from signature/photo rejection).
    • Applications without correct photo/signature will be rejected (unless Aadhaar-authenticated).
    • Keep original documents ready for document verification.
