Note: Candidates can apply for only one state. The selected candidates will be posted within the chosen state for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier. Reservation for PwBD is on a horizontal basis and candidates will be placed in the appropriate category as per their reservation.
- Nationality:
- Indian citizen, or
- Subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
- Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, or
- Person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries (see notification) with eligibility certificate from Government of India.
- Age Limit (as on 01.05.2025):
- Minimum: 20 years
- Maximum: 30 years
- Born not earlier than 02.05.1995 and not later than 01.05.2005 (both dates inclusive)
- Educational Qualification:
- Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
- Candidates must possess valid mark-sheet/degree certificate on the day of registration and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while registering online.
- Language Proficiency: Must be able to read, write, and speak the local language of the state applied for. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a local language proficiency test.
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Persons affected by 1984 riots: 5 years
- Ex-servicemen/ECOs/SSCOs: 5 years (as per government guidelines)
- Cumulative relaxation available for eligible categories, subject to a maximum upper age limit of 50 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
- Reservation for PwBD: Vacancies reserved for Orthopedically Challenged (OC), Visually Impaired (VI), Hearing Impaired (HI), and Intellectual Disability (ID) as per Government of India guidelines.
- Online Application Screening: Initial screening of applications for eligibility.
- Local Language Proficiency Test: Shortlisted candidates must qualify the local language test before proceeding to the next stage.
- Personal Interview: Candidates who qualify the language test will be called for a personal interview. Original documents must be produced for verification at this stage.

- Q: Can I apply for more than one state?
A: No, candidates can apply for vacancy of only one state. Applications for multiple states will be rejected. - Q: Is knowledge of the local language mandatory?
A: Yes, proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the local language of the state applied for is mandatory. A language test will be conducted. - Q: What is the age cut-off date?
